The newly created United States Space Force (USSF) and the US Air Force Research Laboratory have selected the blockchain company Xage Security to develop computer security systems.
Xage Security said in a statement that they had won a comprehensive data protection contract for the USSF. The company will use a blockchain-based Xage Security Fabric solution for the project.
The company said Xage Security Fabric has a unified platform that can protect all systems and remove individual entry points to prevent hackers from clearing information. This will allow the USSF to control who hits the systems, to ensure the safe operation of satellites, even when ground equipment is turned off, and to protect data until they are transmitted to operating units.
This is the second contract with Xage Security from the US Air Force after the first contract signed in December 2019.
The USSF was established in December last year to protect space and acquire military space systems. According to the University of Illinois, space systems are both infrastructure and vehicles that work together to complete space missions. They can be satellites or even spaceships. Since many space systems are heavily dependent on communication and geolocation, it is important that the data transmitted through them is not compromised.
Xage Security CEO Duncan Greatwood said blockchain meets many of the complex needs of the USSF:

The U.S. Department of Defense, which oversees all military branches, including the Air Force and the U.S. military, has a long history of blockchain interest. Indiana-based blockchain company Simba Chain was contracted to secure confidential R&D information in March this year. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has also been involved in the blockchain since 2019.
