Nvidia’s recently released RTX 3000 series cards are creating some buzz among miners, as they are expected to be a significant improvement over previous generations.
While the cards were originally intended to be a minor update, new information appears to confirm that they can achieve hash speeds of around 100MHs per second for Ethereum and Ethash mining.
This would be more than double the improvement over many of the best cards on the market today from both Nvidia and AMD. According to whattomine mining calculator, AMD’s RX Vega series, 5700 series and earlier Nvidia RTX 2000 series have a range from 40 to 50 MH / s with little optimization.

Minehan also stressed that although flashing BIOS is not possible on Nvidia, Ethereum memory times can be improved instantly with the software, eliminating AMD’s perceived competitive advantage. She told Cointelegraph that the RTX 3000 series would be “better than AMDs”.
It’s worth comparing the RTX 3080 to AMD’s closest competitor, the Radeon 5700 XT. The 3080 can be bought for about $ 600-700, and the 5700 XT for about $ 400. AMD has hash of around 51MB / s, while Nvidia is expected to reach at least 90MB / s.
However, Nvidia is much more hungry than AMD, with TDP – a maximum power consumption of 320 watts. AMD card with a power of 225 watts. From this point of view, the 5700 XT’s speed from price to retail is roughly the same as that of Nvidia. The move also eliminates the more powerful RTX 3090, which costs $ 1,500 for a modest 10-15% improvement over its little brother.
So Nvidia’s new RTX 3000 Series appears to be quite competitive with AMD in Ethereum mining, unlike previous generations. The RTX 2000 series, and to a lesser extent the GTX 1000 series, was more expensive than AMD with equal or lower split speeds.
