NBA Top Shot Dapper Labs producer received nearly $ 305 million dollars from investors in a new round of funding.

Former and current NBA stars such as Michael Jordan, Alex Caruso and Kevin Durant have participated in the funding round, according to a Business Insider report on Tuesday. Other investors include Chernin Group and Will Smith’s Dreamers VC.

With this latest round of funding, Dapper Labs was reportedly valued at $ 2.6 billion. As Cointelegraph previously reported, the NBA Top Shot had sales of $ 230 million at the end of February.

According to a spokesman for Dapper Labs, quoted by Business Insider, the NBA Top Shot earned $ 483 million in March with more than 802,000 users on the platform.

In fact, the NBA Top Shot mutation is part of the current interest in non-exchangeable tokens, or NFTs. Earlier in March, the NFT aggregator rejected a $ 1 million bid for the NBA Top Shot NFT, originally acquired for $ 100,000 in January.

Commenting on the platform’s success, Dapper Labs CEO Roham Garegozlaw said:

“The NBA’s top shot is successful because it touches the basketball fan base – it’s a new, more fun way for people to connect with their favorite teams and players.”
Following the success of the NBA Top Shot, Garegozlow says Dapper Labs is committed to extending “the same magic” to other sports companies. Back in February 2020, Dapper Labs signed with the organizer of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial arts.

Dapper Labs also created CryptoKitties, one of the first NFT projects to gain great popularity in the crypto space. At the height of CryptoKitties’ popularity, digital cat breeding games became the largest decentralized program based on Ethereum.

Meanwhile, it seems that NFTs are becoming more and more popular when Saturday Night Live recently presented a rap drawing that explained the new phenomena of digital aggregation in its usual sarcastic tone.
