Ricardo Salinas Plejo, chairman of the Grupo Salinas Group and the third largest man in Mexico, is supplying bitcoin to social media.

The billionaire, estimated to be worth more than $ 13 billion in January, changed his Twitter bio over the weekend to include the retail brand Bitcoin (BTC). Crypto Twitter users and some of Salinas’ more than 840,000 followers reported seeing the change on Saturday around the time that crypto assets surged to over $ 40,000 for the first time in 23 days.

Speaking to Cointelegraph in December, Salinas revealed that he first bought Bitcoin for $ 200 in 2013 and then sold it during the 2017 rally when the price hit $ 17,000. He called cryptocurrencies his “best investment in history.”

Salinas said in November that 10% of his “floating portfolio” was invested in bitcoins and the rest “was invested in precious metal mines.” The 65-year-old billionaire bought it before the bitcoin price surged to full employment in December and January, more than doubling investment. He said he had no plans to sell the cryptocurrency for at least five years.

Salinas is not the only billionaire who recently used social media to pay for cryptocurrency. Today, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk continued to pay with Dogecoin (DOGE) cryptocurrency. Musk has been targeting DOGE users in recent weeks as traders and Reddit investors have involved pumping and dumping the token. The DOGE price has risen by almost 600% in the last 30 days.
